Teen crash survivor says life is sweeter now
During his graduation from Lake Shore High School, 17-year-old Gylbert Musaraj couldn't get up to accept his diploma. So everyone else rose instead, giving the St. Clair Shores resident a standing ovation June 10.

The teen was grateful for the encouragement -- he has received a lot of it since April, when he and his friends were involved in a car crash while on spring break in Florida.

The accident killed his best friend, and has left Musaraj in a wheelchair. He has a broken nose, jaw and cheek, is blind in his right eye and has no sense of taste or smell.

He has too many operation scars on his body to count -- "I find a new one every day," he said. His days are filled with doctor appointments and trips to physical and speech therapists.

But he survived.
